Heels & Brogues Recruitment are working with a well known client who are looking for a MCS Technical Inspector to join their dynamic and expanding team.
Job Title:
MCS Technical Inspector
Salary:
£38,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)
Schedule:
Monday
Friday (37.5hours)

The MCS Technical Inspector supports the certification process by completing on-site technical inspections of live installations at clients' sites, ensuring compliance with MCS standards. The Technical Inspector uses their expertise to report on the work, noting good practices, areas for improvement, and non-conformities. Experienced auditors may also conduct head office assessments and support the recruitment and training of other technical inspectors.

Main Responsibilities for an MCS Technical Inspector:
Verify retrofit designs before on-site technical inspections
Conduct external technical inspections in line with MCS standards
Write detailed, understandable technical reports
Identify non-conformities and provide detailed reports
Confirm completed non-conformances meet audit criteria
Answer client inquiries regarding inspection reports
Provide guidance within UKAS guidelines
Conduct head office assessments of clients' quality management systems (QMS)
Interview and train other technical inspectors
Support and observe newly appointed technical inspectors
Qualifications:
Desirable qualifications for an MCS Technical Inspector include:
MCS Awareness Course
GDA or DEA or equivalent course (Retrofit Assessor)
ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
Relevant NVQ/qualifications for each applicable measure
Health and Safety Qualification (e.g., IOSH or NEBOSH)
Health and Safety Certificates relevant to each measure (e.g., manual handling, confined spaces, fire awareness, working at heights, Gas Safe, asbestos awareness)
A1 Assessor
Competencies:
Recognised electrical qualification (Electrotechnical Assessment Specification, Appendix 4)
Registration with a Scheme Operator under relevant Building Regulations
Awareness in asbestos and other health and safety issues
Recognised heating qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ or SVQ in plumbing or heating & ventilation or gas or oil, Gas Safe (CCN1))
Unvented cylinder/hot water systems qualification (G3)
Water regulations training (WRAS)
Short course or qualification in MCS technology (e.g., Biomass, Heat Pumps, Solar Thermal)
BPEC Part L Energy Efficiency
BPEC Level 3 Awards in Heat Pump Systems, Solar Thermal Hot Water Systems, and Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
Desirable attributes for the MCS Technical Inspector include:
Two years experience within the Eco Industry
Two years experience in inspecting, assessing, or technical monitoring (ideally to MCS standards)
Relevant experience in design and installation related technologies
Experience in carrying out full domestic property assessments
Experience in developing and verifying risk assessments and method statements
Experience in writing and understanding installation documentation
Ability to build relationships with a wide range of people
Attention to detail and use of initiative
Ability to follow procedures and audit trails
Strong customer service skills
Ability to manage a varied and complex workload
Flexible approach and supportive team member
Problem-solving and decision-making ability
