Technical Manager

Location: Exeter - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required

Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

What will you be responsible for?

As a Technical Manager, you'll be supporting construction and development schemes by providing an effective and co-ordinated external utility services strategy from feasibility through the detailed design and on to construction of utilities.

Your day to day will include:

• Developing strategies including in-depth consideration of various alternatives and options to find the best / preferred solution, ensuring that the design solution is fully understood by engaging with the client and using your experience of asset management to offer solutions.


• Fulfilling the role of main point of contact with the design consultants at director level providing the correct level of technical performance, leading and managing engineering design delivery for assigned projects


• Driving and optimising the engineering assurance process for designs prepared by partner at outline design and capital delivery partners at tender and construction design, providing expert engineering support to the design, construction and commissioning process from project definition through to detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover of capital schemes


• Leading the Engineering Design team, design consultants and construction partners in developing technically and economically proficient engineering solutions, developing and overseeing engineering project plans encompassing scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resources


• Implementing design quality procedures producing right-first-time philosophy adherence, being the impetus in developing innovation and engineering excellence through the programme by leading partner forums and supply chain engagement

What are we looking for?

This role of Technical Manager is great for you if:

• You hold Chartered Engineer status with a degree level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline


• Can influence people across multifunctional teams throughout the business, full driving licence


• Have experience in the application of quality procedures and document control in engineering design
