Technical Manager

Here at Alexander Steele Recruitment, we work exclusively with a leading food manufacturer that supplies branded and private-label food products to retailers across the UK. The business has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager to join their site in the West Midlands.

The role:

As Technical Manager, your role will focus on leading, managing, and developing the Technical function to continuously improve food safety, and the quality of the products and to ensure all legal requirements and KPIs are achieved.

Key accountabilities include

• Ensure that QMS, food safety systems, and operational practices are implemented and that all staff across the business follow processes for consistent quality and standards.


• Management, development, and motivation of the Technical, Quality, and Hygiene functions to ensure KPIs are achieved.


• Leading all customer, auditing bodies, and internal audits to ensure legislation and compliance.


• Lead and management of the HACCP team.


• Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the quality and safety of products are upheld and within cost, best practice is shared and upheld and customer policies are implemented and followed.


• Work with the product development team to ensure all NPD and EPD projects are delivering on compliance and specification

Candidate requirements:

Our client is looking for an individual with at least 5 years experience in a Technical Management role within a food manufacturing setting, a background/degree qualified in food science or a related field, and experience in project management and auditing (Customer, BRC, and other auditing bodies) with a great understanding of the microbiology of products.

You must have strong leadership skills, be highly motivated, and have the ability to organise yourself and others to drive for and deliver results.
