Telecommunications and Data Engineer - West Berkshire - �30,000-�35,000



Peopleforce Recruitment are delighted to be supporting the search of a Telecommunications and Fire and Security business based in West Berkshire.



Essential Skills and Knowledge:




  • Proficiency in installing audio-visual systems, structured cabling, fiber optics, and telephone switches, including tray work and containment.

  • Familiarity with telephone systems like Samsung, Toshiba, Panasonic, and LG.

  • Basic knowledge of hubs, active network products, their configurations, and computer literacy.



Responsibilities:




  • Communicate effectively with customers and engineers, providing professional support and guidance.

  • Train and assist customers or engineers in using and installing equipment.

  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism.



Roles & Responsibilities



Daily Operations:




  • Report daily updates to the internal customer support team and communicate progress to customers onsite.

  • Ensure clear communication of outstanding tasks at the end of the day.



Site Surveys & Sales Support:




  • Conduct site surveys and prepare detailed reports for installations and maintenance.

  • Assist the sales team with surveys and provide necessary technical information for accurate quotations.



Appearance & Conduct:




  • Wear appropriate work attire, including hi-vis jackets and steel-toed boots; maintain a clean and professional appearance.

  • Comply with health and safety rules, including no smoking in company vehicles or customer sites.

  • Avoid music, shouting, or loud behavior that might disrupt customers.



Tool Management:




  • Use company-provided tools responsibly, reporting any required replacements or additional tools.

  • Replace lost or damaged tools due to negligence at personal expense.



Product, Customer, and Subcontractor Responsibility



Customer Sites:




  • Supervise contractors, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to schedules.

  • Keep work areas clean and report unresolved issues (e.g., misplaced ceiling tiles) to the office.



Maintenance and Flexibility:




  • Respond promptly to fault calls to minimize customer downtime.

  • Be flexible to meet deadlines and support business growth.



Material Management:




  • Do not remove cabling products or tools from sites without management approval.

  • Secure valuable tools and materials in provided van strongboxes.



Continuous Improvement:




  • Share ideas for improving efficiency, productivity, and cost-saving measures while maintaining high workmanship standards.



General Expectations




  • Represent the company with honesty and integrity.

  • Be prepared to work late or stay away as needed to complete tasks.

  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned to maintain customer satisfaction.
