Temporary Works Designer
Salary: �35,000 - �60,000

Location: Hinkley Point C site

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Temporary Works Designer to join the team at Hinkley Point C, the UK's first new-build nuclear power station in a generation, playing a critical role in achieving the UK's NetZero targets. This position requires a proactive individual who prioritises safety and quality while contributing to the Zero Harm objective.

As a Temporary Works Designer, you will be responsible for developing and verifying engineering design solutions for Temporary Works on this prestigious project. Your role will include stress calculations, structural analysis, and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that designs meet stringent project requirements and comply with all relevant safety and legislative standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Development: Create and develop Temporary Works designs that align with BS 5975: 2019 and are feasible for implementation.
  • Design Verification: Approve and verify Temporary Works designs, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Structural Analysis: Conduct detailed stress calculations, load assessments, and structural analysis to ensure the safety and integrity of designs.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to CDM Regulations 2015 and other legislative standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the project team to prepare design briefs and ensure competent design checks.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in stress analysis and structural integrity assessments.
  • High proficiency in design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro, Tekla).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status.
  • Demonstrable experience as a Temporary Works Designer in large-scale engineering projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of BS 5975: 2019, construction techniques, and materials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Temporary Works Design certification.
  • Extensive experience in stress calculations and structural analysis.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on the Hinkley Point C site.
  • Confined Spaces certification.

Working Pattern:

  • 37 hours per week, based on-site at Hinkley Point C.
