At Campden BRI we have a dedicated Regulatory Affairs team, who offer a valuable and expert advisory service, as we're the leading authority, helping our clients stay compliant with food regulations in more than 80 countries.Toxicological research and toxicity testing constitute the scientific core of Risk Assessment, which is used for evaluating potential adverse health impacts from exposure to hazardous substances that appear in the food chain.A Regula tory Toxicology Advisor helps the Risk Assessor characterize the risk by collating and interpreting scientific/toxicological data.
This is important in helping to provide consultation and support and facilitate the completion of internal and external customer inquiries, such as, but not limited to, risk assessment of hazardous compounds, advisory on toxicological testing, safety assessment of novel foods/ingredients (including genotoxicity, sub chronic toxicity, carcinogenicity, reproductive and developmental toxicity). PositionTo maintain and extend a high level of awareness of current food legislation, emerging issues, risk assessment methodologies, and likely developments, in UK and EU harmonized food legislation, novel foods/ingredients/additives authorizations.To develop and contribute to RA inquiries.To answer questions from members, other clients, and colleagues on the content, application and interpretation of the above.To initiate new business and deliver contract services on time and within budget. To contribute to the development and delivery of research projects. To develop self to enhance performance and professionalism. To undertake such other duties as may, from time to time, reasonably be required by the Regulatory Affairs Manager.RequirementsMSc/PhD in Toxicology or Environmental Toxicology (or any relevant area of Toxicology/Chemistry).Experience in any one or more of the areas; reproductive/developmental toxicity, Computational (in silico) toxicology and modelling, Toxicokinetic, or ADME, Regulatory toxicology, Exposure assessment, chemical risk assessment (i.e., contaminants, allergens, chemicals).Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies to evaluate materials, ingredients, and products.Basic chemistry skills related to product chemistry with a good understanding of Risk assessment and the food Regulatory framework.Strong experience in industrial and/or regulatory toxicology, EU/UK harmonised regulation.Practical experience in food and drink manufacturing ideally food industry experience gained from a technical and/or research/scientific role.Well-developed communication skills – upwards, downwards, and outwards including presentations to clients and delivery of training materials.Experience in client interactions and/ or project management.
