Youll play a vital part in reducing road casualties and improving safety across the trunk road network in Scotland. Heres a concise overview of the key aspects:
Key Responsibilities
Budget Management: Monitor and report on a £6 million budget for accident investigation and prevention measures.
Stakeholder Coordination: Engage with stakeholders to identify and implement best practices in road safety engineering.
Engineering Measures: Collaborate on delivering engineering solutions to meet Scottish Government's casualty reduction goals by 2030.
Reporting and Communication: Draft reports, respond to public inquiries, and prepare briefings for Ministers.
Site Visits: Conduct site visits with Police Scotland to analyse past fatal accidents.
Competencies and Experience
Evidence Analysis: Proven ability to utilize diverse data sources for informed decision-making.
Performance Improvement: Experience in project management, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships and managing conflict.

Essential Criteria
Chartered Engineer (C. Eng.) with relevant road design experience.
Experience in data analysis and decision support.
Proven track record of managing workloads and delivering programs on time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Criteria
Experience in budget monitoring and reporting.
Background in road safety engineering and research.
