Job DescriptionBirmingham City Football Club are looking to add a Physiotherapist to their Academy team to lead on the management of injuries for the men's U21 players, in liaison with the Head of Academy Sport Science and Medicine and Lead Academy Physiotherapist.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES //Assessment and management of injuries and illnesses of players from the U21 squad, including relevant referral to internal and external health professionals.Attend all continued professional development events.Actively engage in a fully functioning competency framework and integrated appraisal process.Monitor the wellbeing of Academy players at all times liaising with the Club Safeguarding Team.Ensure compliance with all the Policies and Procedures contained within the Staff Handbook, paying particular regard to the Equal Opportunities Policy and Health & Safety Policy and procedures at all times.SCOPE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES //Work with the Lead Academy Physiotherapist on development and delivery of all aspects of physiotherapy services to the academy squads in line with the department’s injury prevention and performance enhancement philosophy.Implement effective assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of all assigned injured players in the U21 squad.Work with the U21 squad to provide optimal training, matchday and pitch side medical cover for PDP squad players, adhering to the Academy Medical Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).To ensure that medical notes are confidential, accurate, completed and uploaded to Kitman Labs within 24 hours.Maintain a comprehensive database of work conducted with athletes and coaches on Kitman Labs and SharePoint. To include current medical status, medical notes, rehabilitation and prehab programmes, medical/orthopedic/movement screen results, individual physical targets and session content and attendance.Management, design, and implementation (in liaison with the Lead Academy Physiotherapy) of the medical, orthopedic and movement screening programmes for all U21 players.Collate, analyse and feedback relevant medical information to the appropriate Club staff for all U21 players. This is to include updates on injured players, rehabilitation programmes, return to train/play dates and injury audits (but must respect and abide by medical confidentiality laws).Design and dissemination of individual injury minimisation programmes.Liaison with the Academy Emerging Talent staff concerning appropriate medical information and consents for all U21 trialists.Conduct appropriate screening of trialists to assist with recruitment.Provision of medical cover for training and match day fixtures for our U21 squad, as necessary.Contribution to the player performance reviews within the Kitman Labs.Work effectively with other support staff and services, including Performance Support MDT, to provide an integrated approach to performance enhancement.Design and implementation (in liaison with the Lead Academy Doctor) of an Emergency Action Plan for each site that training/matches occur (where we are the “home” team).Identify areas for development and work closely with the Academy Management Team, Sports Science and Medical Team and Multi-Disciplinary Teams to ensure necessary performance standards are met and developed.Assist with the management of injuries for U21 players, in liaison with the Lead Academy Physiotherapist, Head of Academy Sport Science and Medicine, and other physiotherapists.Contribute to and monitor the management of the injuries to the U9-U18 players, where necessary.Assist the Lead Academy Physiotherapist and Head of Academy Sport Science and Medicine with the recruitment of physiotherapy work placement students and part-time physiotherapists, where necessary.Conduct a 10-week review identifying appropriate areas of physical excellence and areas which need developing.Any other duties commensurate with the grade and falling within the scope of the post, as requested by the Academy Manager(s) and the Head of Sports Science and Medicine.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS //BSc in Physiotherapy.Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.HCPC registered Physiotherapist or equivalent.FA Advanced Trauma and Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF).FA Safeguarding.DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS //MSc in Sports Medicine or working towards.Certificate in strapping and taping.Valid Driving Licence.The Executives in Sport Group are retained on behalf of Birmingham City Football Club to appoint an U21's Academy Physiotherapist.
