UK Commercial Director - MOTHER Famous for its irreverent disposition, model cult following, and super-soft fabrics, the boutique made-in L.A. brand is unique for its genius in keeping an indie spirit while still offering fits and washes that appeal to a wide range of people. Guided by spontaneity, MOTHER has grown into a lifestyle brand with four yearly collections expanding across denim, sportswear, outerwear and accessories. The brand evokes the memories and experiences of growing up in California in the 70s what you were wearing, what you were doing and who you were getting in trouble with. It reflects the freedom to be unfiltered, brazen and above all amusing. Reporting to the Senior Director of International Sales, the UK Commercial Director will be responsible for managing the revenue generating functions of the UK Structure for MOTHER Denim; looking to further expand a growing UK business with a corporate team in London. In addition to revenue; the UK Commercial Director will be responsible for some operational support/oversight of the UK Company; and representing the UK Sales team in cross-functional partnerships with PR, Marketing, Planning, HR etc. The UK Commercial Director will also be responsible for partnering with the VP of Sales & Senior Director of Sales in developing robust sales strategies to boost sales and maximize profits in the UK. We are looking for an experienced leader, passionate about being a part of a growing and exciting business; and ready to support building the corporate structure in the UK. Duties and responsibilities: Manage the sales team including the Account Manager, the retail coordinators (reporting to the Account Manager) and the Assistant AE. Guide the sales team and the UK team in the big picture strategic goals for the Brand in the UK. Manage the department store accounts (with the support of the Account Manager and retail coordinators); including but not limited to market appointments, core assortment buys and replenishment, budget conversations and planning, new product/category launches and floor placement. Manage the annual revenue plan and monthly forecast, with a clear understanding of core and immediate outstanding business. Partner with the team to develop, target and maintain target door list and growth plan with key deliverables. Manage the annual OPEX plan and monthly OPEX re-forecast, partnering closely with finance and the Senior Director of Sales. Manage (in partnership with Planning) the UK inventory plan, in addition to supporting the Planning department with off-price management where requested; within the guidelines agreed upon collectively. Responsible for partnering with the team to provide style projections for each collection within the deadlines communicated. Manage the UK Major department store and Mini Majors orders & day to day business. Manage UK team department goals, budget goals, order deadlines and visual retail requirements. Review selling, target opportunities, drive reorder. Manage and implement in season opportunities including but not limited to injections, re-cuts, margin builder packages and core addition/substitution. Guide and partner with the Account Manager in the seasonal markets 4 times per year. Coordinate showrooms details (with some collaboration/ops support), Location, models, aesthetic, set up and take down. Support the Senior Director of Intl in adding synergy and efficiency across territories with exclusive, re-cut requests and early ship requests. Partner with the Domestic Sales Directors to stay informed regarding domestic selling, momentum, opportunities, and challenges, to better support the same in the UK. Support Ops and Finance with account communication & follow up when needed. Support/Participate in Order Bulking Process-understanding and communicating deadlines to the team and coordinating with Logistics Head as needed. Travel to LA, NYC, Paris or Milan for meetings and Market support when needed. Maintain current knowledge of the market and competition from product understanding to pricing norms to staffing. Monitor brand sales trends across the UK to provide analytics in support of brand initiatives. Demonstrates in-depth analytical and strategic ability in support of operational and procedural planning. Ability to report on season end financials/partner profitability. Professional skills, experience, and attributes: 5-10 years UK sales or buying experience within the denim or contemporary product categories. Strong and established relationships with the UK Major Accounts and the Independent doors. Strong client facing, presentation and negotiation skills. Knowledge of Contemporary or Premium denim international/UK customer base. Proven success in areas of people management, coaching and development. Strong Retail numeracy skill set and commercial acumen. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Proven success in hiring, managing, and training teams within the UK. Confident, personable, and able to inspire and command respect across all levels of the business.
