The role

As USV Master you will have overall authority and responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all USV's under your command. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of the personnel, the USV and the protection of the environment.

You will be located within the ROC or Local Operations Centre (LOC) and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the USV Operators team whilst working alongside the other operational teams (such as ROV, Survey, Positioning etc.) to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of projects. You will build and maintain relationships with the ROC stakeholders and liaise with local departments.

You will be responsible for the implementation of the QHSSE procedures related to the management and operations of the USV fleet. Identifying and reporting any deficiencies whilst proactively promoting a positive safety culture.

You will measure the progress of the project by identifying gaps, setting challenging goals and high performing standards to ensure you achieve critical priorities.

You will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of the team, identifying, and advising on any training requirements. You will inspire and motivate others to ensure future success and higher levels of performance. You will build confidence by communicating expectations amongst the team, leading, and supporting whilst promoting Fugro's vision and values.

Who we're looking for:

The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced and knowledgeable Master.

You will be qualified to at least Master 200GRT Unlimited area level, STCW II/3 level or will hold a Yacht Master Ocean Certificate. You will have at least three years' experience working in a Maritime management environment with significant management experience in a Marine and project driven environment.

You must be willing and able to work as part of the site team where required, assisting with maintenance and repair of the vessel when in port. You must be willing to work in confined and challenging conditions and be comfortable working in all weather conditions.

You must be proactive and forward thinking and have a desire to embrace new technology and ways of working.

You must have excellent communication skills and be proficient in English. You are required to be computer literate whilst having the ability to use standard office equipment.

You must also be willing to travel to sites across Europe and Africa, where required.
