The role holder will be responsible for the management and development of Special Collections. They will ensure the Collection plays an active role as a facility supporting teaching and learning, as an academic research resource for internal and external users, and as a catalyst for developing cultural and civic partnerships. They will be responsible for the leadership of the team who deliver the service and ensuring the highest standards of collection care for this internationally important collection of archives and rare books. They will work closely with the other Heads of Collections within the Culture and Collection Group and together their work will help the Library and University deliver its Vision and strategy , which includes plans for a flagship new University Library. What will you be doing? This is a varied job with the overall aim of ensuring the development of the collections, facilities and services to deliver academic, creative and social impact across a broad range of user communities. The role holder will provide leadership across a diverse team of specialists (archivists, librarians, digitisation technicians etc) ensuring compliance with professional standards (e.g. accreditation) and that the Collection builds a reputation for innovative professional practice. They will respond to opportunities presented by the shift towards digital and the Cultural Collections Audience Development Roadmap to ensure the collection remains relevant, discoverable and accessible to academic, cultural & creative and public communities.
