The Role
We are seeking a Cleaning Vocational Tutor to deliver BiCS (British Institute of Cleaning Science) training within a prison environment. This role is instrumental in providing prisoners with practical cleaning skills, including biohazard handling, to support employability upon release. The tutor will also promote literacy and personal development, making a meaningful impact on rehabilitation and re-entry into the workforce.

Qualifications required: BiCS or equivalent cleaning certification
Experience required: Vocational training or teaching experience in a prison or similar setting preferred
Skills necessary: Cleaning techniques, employability training, literacy integration, health and safety compliance
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver BiCS Training: Provide high-quality BiCS cleaning instruction, preparing prisoners for work in hygiene services, with a strong focus on safety and compliance, including COSHH regulations.
Induct Prisoners to Cleaning Academy: Lead comprehensive training covering academy policies, safe equipment use, and emergency procedures to ensure a thorough introduction.
Tailor Instruction for Individual Needs: Adapt teaching to accommodate diverse learning needs, in collaboration with learning support practitioners, fostering an inclusive environment.
Promote Literacy and Employability: Integrate reading resources and employability skills into the cleaning curriculum, emphasising literacy as a foundation for long-term success.
Encourage Restorative Practices: Support prisoners in taking ownership of their learning, fostering peer collaboration, and engaging positively in rehabilitation.
What You Bring:
A BiCS or equivalent cleaning certification, with a focus on health and safety knowledge.
Experience in vocational training, teaching, or coaching, especially within correctional or rehabilitative settings.
Strong communication, organisation, and adaptability, with a commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).

Working Hours:This is a full-time role, 38.5 hours per week, with the following schedule:
Four days per week: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
One half-day per week: either 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM
