I am currently recruiting on behalf of one of the UK's leading providers of Education & Support to recruit a number of experienced and dedicated Waking Night Support Workers for a residential setting within a college setting supporting young people 16+ in Lancaster.

The college & residential service supports individuals with a variety of profound and multiple learning difficulties, including working with young people who are non-verbal, have a hearing impairment, rely on or occasionally require the use of a wheelchair/hoist and have complex health and social care needs.

Title: Waking Night Support Worker - PMLD Specialism

Pay: £11.60 - £12.85p/h depending on experience

Location: Lancaster, Lancashire

Hours: 42 hours per week - 4 waking night shifts per week

Shift Times: 9.30am - 7.30am

Contract: Permanent

What you'll be doing as a Waking Night Support Worker:


  • Provide support and assistance to the young people during the night, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Engage with the young people in meaningful activities to promote their well-being.
  • Assist with personal care and medication management.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring effective communication with the daytime team.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere for the young people.

What you'll need to be successful as a Waking Night Support Worker:


  • At least 3 months experience of working with young people or adults with learning disabilities in residential settings
  • Experience within a similar care setting
  • You must be comfortable supporting young people with personal care
  • Basic Sign language or Makaton would be an advantage
