Warehouse Operative

Location: Halstead�

Salary: �11.44 per hour

Working Hours: Monday to Friday

Shift: 7am - 4pm�

Job Overview:

OCS is seeking a hardworking and responsible Waste Handling Operative to assist in the recycling and waste management process at our facilities. This role involves moving balers, and compactors to ensure that waste materials, such as cardboard, plastics, general waste, and food waste, are properly processed for removal and recycling. The successful candidate will contribute to our sustainability goals by ensuring all materials are handled efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operating balers to compress cardboard and plastics for removal by our contractor.


• Handling and segregating general waste and food waste, placing them into the correct compactors.


• Running compactors and balers to ensure waste is properly processed for collection.


• Following safety protocols to ensure the correct disposal and recycling processes are adhered to.


• Monitoring waste levels and ensuring timely collection by the contractor.


• Reporting any machinery or equipment issues to management.


• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment at all times.

Skills and Requirements:

• Previous experience in waste handling, recycling, or a similar environment is preferred but not essential.


• Physically fit and able to lift and move waste materials and bags.


• Basic understanding of health and safety practices, particularly in waste management.


• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.


• A reliable and responsible work ethic, with attention to detail.
