Are you ready to take your skills to the next level? Our client is looking for a Workshop Technician to join their dynamic team at their Handforth Dean facility! This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive environment where you'll play a key role in the supply, repair, and retrofit of machine tool spindles and motors.

Position Details:

  • Location:Epsom Ave, Handforth Dean, SK9 3PW
  • Working Hours: - Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:00
    Friday: 08:00 - 14:45 (30-minute lunch)
    Salary: �13-�15 per hour, based on experience
  • Contract Duration:Likely to be extended beyond 6 months

What Will You Do?
As a Workshop Technician, you'll have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:

  • Stripping down and assessing incoming machine tool spindles, motors, fan, and pump assemblies.
  • Conducting fault finding and root cause analysis to pinpoint issues and prevent future failures.
  • Collaborating with technical specialists in the UK and Germany to create condition reports.
  • Managing stock to ensure availability of spares for rebuilds.
  • Cleaning, polishing, and preparing spindle components for assembly.
  • Rebuilding products to OEM specifications and fully testing them before returning to customers.
  • Working in accordance with industry standards, such as 5S, Quality Management (ISO), and Zero Harm policies.

What Do You Need to Qualify?
We're looking for candidates who:

  • Have a solid understanding of mechanical fitting and machining.
  • Are eager to learn and develop new skills.
  • Pride themselves on punctuality, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Can work efficiently as part of a team.
  • Understand Health & Safety standards and can contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Can read engineering drawings and use basic hand tools.

What's a Plus?
While not essential, the following skills and experiences will give you an advantage:

  • Competence in operating workshop equipment like lathes, milling machines, and pillar drills.
  • Experience with electrical systems and measurement devices such as DMMs and volt metres.
  • Familiarity with working to close tolerances and using associated measuring equipment.
  • Previous experience using lifting equipment (full training will be provided).
