Y1 Teaching Assistant 

About the Role:

Vision for Education is seeking an enthusiastic and caring Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in the YO22 area of Whitby. This part-time role, working 3 days a week, offers a fantastic opportunity to support young learners during a crucial stage in their education. There is also potential for this position to become full-time and longer-term, depending on the needs of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality education to Year 1 pupils.
• Support children’s learning and development through a range of engaging activities.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who may need extra help.
• Help manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
• Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and classroom resources.
• Contribute to the monitoring and assessment of pupil progress.
• Build strong relationships with children, parents, and staff, fostering a supportive school community.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children, ideally in a primary school setting.
• A passion for supporting young learners and helping them reach their full potential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• A flexible, adaptable, and proactive approach to work.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Working Hours:
This is a part-time role, working 3 days a week 08:30am until 3:30pm. There is potential for the role to become full-time and extended longer-term, depending on the school's needs.
