Youll provide a frontline one-to-one service for children and young people (aged 5 19) who have been impacted by domestic abuse. Youll provide person-centred support to young people in their own abusive relationships. A key part of your role will be to ensure all relevant agencies are working together to effectively safeguard children and young people at highest risk.
Job requirements
Take responsibility for the efficient and effective management of all children and young people (CYP) referred, carrying out initial contact and assessment of risk.
Assess the needs of CYP affected by domestic abuse to plan and deliver effective and focused intervention, that prioritises their safeguarding and protection and achieves positive outcomes.
Use evidence-based tools (such as the SafeLives young peoples risk identification checklist, or RIC) to identify and assess the risks and needs of young victims in abusive relationships.
Work within a multi-agency framework (including the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), Family Welfare Court and local safeguarding partnership) to ensure CYP are at the heart of their response to domestic abuse.
Assist CYP through the criminal justice system, preparing reports for court and attending where necessary and liaise with other agencies as appropriate. Represent both Glow and the child in statutory meetings, such as core groups and Child Protection conferences as required, so that risks can be shared and appropriate safeguards can be put in place.
Stay up to date with current issues, legislation and best practice regarding domestic abuse, particularly relating to CYP.
